(veja no link embaixo)

An article on my artwork by artist José Rosário Castro. (In Portuguese – translation to come soon – see link bellow)
Among the many virtues of art, none seems more noble that the universalization of the individual that promotes it: the artist, being this artist from any where. This language without motherland, can either take the artists of their country and / or receive artists from other Nations. There is a kind of democracy for those who practice the art at its most real essence, and it is in these moments that we realize that borders are nothing more than a few lines created on a map. The art in its purest state knows no such bounds. Fortunately, the internet has made those borders and distances between people even more. It was through it that I came to know the work of a Brazilian, living for decades in the United States. In an interview, he comes to show us what became his “new world”, and as the art was a determining factor for his integration in it.

My poster “Fishing on Lewis Island” received Best in Show award.

Title: “Fishing on Lewis Island”
Artist: Luiz Vilela, Lambertville, NJ
Medium: Oil painted directly onto acid-free poster board
Poster Size: 18 x 28″

“Fishing on Lewis Island”

“It was already late afternoon when I saw the fishermen
It felt like they knew the wind, they talked with the fish
They had the river, the water in their eyes
Their souls were blue from the sky
And my heart was pounding with the waves … “

What a better tribute to Lewis Island on it’s 125th Anniversary than a spectacular painting by Luiz Vilela. If real life were only this beautiful. The artist makes it a fantasy, rich in color and light, ideal. This painting is spectacular. Thanks again Luiz for another stunning contribution to the auction scholarship fund.
